──♚── Who knew that the end of the world was closer than we thought? Ciel used to spend a lot of his time regretting things like, I wish I cleaned my room more when my parents asked, or I wish I would have agreed to go see the relatives more. He’d even wished that the walkers had killed him too. But those days were gone. Regretting and wishing only got you nowhere. This world was all about surviving now, and that’s what he was going to do.
At first, Ciel tried to stay in groups, but that got nowhere. People only held you back. They fucked up, gave away your position, and they got themselves and others killed. So the boy decided to survive on his own and he was doing a pretty good job of it. It took him a while, but he found a nice apartment building out in the suburbs of the city and made his base there in one of the top floor apartments. He made sure to pick the one with an easy fire escape just incase he found himself cornered from the front entrance.
After raiding all the other apartments of food and supplies and making sure there were no walkers, he locked himself in and did a really good job of surviving on his own. He rationed out the food so it lasted a long time, and he even found plenty of clothing to wear. One of the apartments had stocked up on gallons of water before the apocalypse, so he had that too. Things were going well for him for a few months. However, nothing lasts forever.
Ciel had glanced into the cupboard at the dwindling amount of canned food and realized that he was going to have to go scavenging. He had a pistol with some ammo, but he mostly relied on his small stature and quickness to evade the walkers. So, with a bookbag on his back and gun in hand, he headed out to try and find supplies.
It went really well for him. He’d only encountered a few walkers here and there but he was able to find a small super market that still had a couple things in it. He even found a nursing home with not only food and bottles of water, but also some medical supplies. So he was on his way back to his apartment building with bag full of supplies when he turned the corner to find a dozen or so walkers. His sapphire eyes went wide and he ducked back around, but the growling indicated he’d been seen. Damn! Why were there so many? He quickly made his way down another alley but as he was jogging along, his food got caught in a hole in the asphalt, making him tumble to the ground. When he tried to get up, any weight he put on his ankle made him grimace in pain. He must have sprained it. Then, around the corner came that mob of walkers, heading right for him. He desperately tried to crawl on hands and knees, but he was too slow like that. This was it, wasn’t it? He was going to die here. He didn’t want to die.
──♚── Ciel closed his eyes tight, tears streaming down his cheeks as he returned the hug. “I’m not.. I’m not really that...
