The British winter had been off to a harsh start that year, a blizzard striking only a few weeks in. The two had no choice but to stay at the manor until the storm had died down, not as if the butler would’ve allowed otherwise with Ciel’s health issue. Yet as soon as there was enough visibility to see in front of you, the little earl ordered a trip to London, and let nothing stand in the way of that decision, no matter how much Sebastian had warned him of the freezing temperatures. Along with this stubbornness, he also declared that he would not need as many layers as his butler put on him. And all was fine until the next morning, when he had awoken with a raging fever and a terrible cough.

──♚── Ｔhe stubborn Earl scrunched his nose in disgust as the spoon of syrupy liquid was brought to his lips. It smelled like cherries but tasted like anything but. He hesitantly parted his lips, his entire body shaking as that horrible taste hit his tongue once more. It nearly made him gag, but he swallowed it quickly before plopping back into the soft pillows beneath him.
“Ｉ can still do my work. Just allow me to go to my office. It's only a cold, it won't kill me.” Ciel gazed over at the window that was laced with frost as large snowflakes fell to the already blanketed ground. He wasn’t about to admit that Sebastian was right about anything.
“Ｉt's really not as bad as you're making it out to be. I'm already feeling better.”
