A little alone time with his father was always calming for Ciel. Being that they were like-minded individuals, they could easily take part in quiet things such as reading or just playing chess. Today, Ciel had wanted to be in his father’s office with him as he did his work, so he quietly sat on the floor close to the desk, flipping through a book. That was when his father piped up, breaking the silence in the room, and making the boy jerk a little from surprise as he was brought back to the present. What he said made the child wonder what he could mean, though. Ciel looked down, narrowing those big sapphire eyes a little as he thought it over.
Ciel was a very smart child. As such, it really didn’t take a lot for him to understand something. He nodded his head solemnly and gazed back down at the book in his hands. The little thing didn’t realize that this information his father had given him, would come into play many times in his future. It would come to describe many of the monsters he would face. But most of all, it would come to be true of himself.
“I’ll always keep that in mind, father.”
