So Slowly [Closed Roleplay] To Hell

demon-madam:

The hug was, perhaps, the last straw that broke her thinly veiled strength. A breath shuddered along her tongue as her arms fell to wrap themselves around his shoulders. She held onto him as if he might vanish before her, or as if she was trying to hold onto a memory that was already long since gone. The embrace did nothing to dispel the memory of the boy’s father— it might have even encouraged it. Ciel was considerably taller then her now, even with the height of her heels. Her head tilted itself to rest briefly on his shoulder, surprised by the strength that she would find there. How he had grown— and even more of his life she had missed. More regrets to her ever growing list. Did he have a wife? Children? Had he had expanded the family company how his father had always desired?

He was talking, and it was all she could to blink through the tears and compose herself enough to listen.

“I was… taking time to come to terms with my life.” Or, perhaps, the lack there of. “I didn’t realise how much time it would take,” The woman mused, reluctantly pulling back enough to meet his gaze. “You’ve been doing well for yourself, however, without the nagging of your aunt.” She teased softly, with a mirth that didn’t reach her moist eyes. “I am deeply sorry, Ciel, for not being here for you, as I should have been. Especially since you’ve lost Sebastian’s protection…” There was a pause, before she added. “I do hope you do not mind another demon finding their way into your life?” Anne asked at length. Perhaps he had grown past that stage of his life? Maybe he wanted to leave it all behind him.

Ciel felt the other’s shoulders quiver with the shuddered breath. He squeezed her a little more tightly, not knowing the inner turmoil she was facing. When she moved back, he met her gaze, feeling strange to be the one looking down this time. “Don’t be sorry. It was hard to be without Sebastian’s protection at first, but I’ve grown up a lot since then and found out how to take care of myself.” At the mention of harboring another demon in that old, quite estate, he couldn’t help but smile. He’d actually missed the old days and the adventures they’d had. “I’d love to have you. Would you like anything? Tea?” With the question, he turned down the hall and towards the sitting room where he’d take a seat in one of the comfortable chair and ask a butler to prepare tea. The butler was an older gentleman, as human as could be. It really was strange to see someone else serving Ciel.
